When dealing with health there are several major items to consider. Often people get the picture of a buff body builder or a professional athlete in their head when you mention health. This is not an article to teach you to be a great athlete or body builder rather it will address a series of items to help you consider your own health. There are several aspects to health in the broad sense. There is physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional health- what can be referred to as complete health. As stated before most people consider physical health and that is it. I am going to address some activities that will help your health and then some items that will hurt your health- think complete health.

A big part of health is what you put into your body- words, images, and food to name a few. In dealing with the physical aspect first there are various diet and exercise programs that have come about in the past. This is because concerns have risen that some diseases and physical problems are associated with the kind of diet one is involved in. Most of these programs are now in big demand in the market today. There were not as many options in the past for exercises and dieting as there are now and people nowadays are exposed to a variety of options to choose from. Apart from physical exercises there are other mental ways to treat a person and a good example is yoga. Yoga is not only good for the body but for a person’s mental health as well. A growing preference for many is the Pilates program which has been said to have similar effects as yoga.

The Pilates program’s main aim is to create more strength to its users. It is important that one adheres to the program for a certain period of time in order to experience the benefits. It also encourages people to monitor their breathing and heart rates so that they do not strain themselves in the process. Pilate’s program encourages the users to take it slow but forcefully so as to increase muscle mass. Both Pilates and Yoga help the physical and mental health of an individual. By being healthy both in mind and body will help the other two health factors.

Addictions of almost any type can be damaging to your complete health. Addictions often affect multiple aspects of a person’s health. Addictions can come in many forms from substance addiction to sexual addictions. Let’s look at sexual addictions and particularly pornographic addictions.

If you are addicted to porn there is help out there for you. You must first be able to admit that you have an addiction to porn. Porn addiction is defined as the psychological need or dependence on pornography. It is characterized by the need to view, read, or constantly think about pornography or other sexually themed material. Porn addiction effects your life and the lives of those that you are closest to. Your inability to with stand pornographic material in inappropriate areas of your life, like work, can be an important part of the addiction.

Once you have established your need for pornography addiction help there are many ways to receive the help you need. There is help for porn addiction through church and support groups. There are also online programs designed to help conquer porn addiction. You can start by installing Internet filters and having a friend keep the password for the program. This will prevent you from accessing pornographic material online.

By speaking to a church member and asking for spiritual guidance is one way to get pornography addiction help. Speaking to your pastor or minister can help you overcome a porn addiction. If this is not an option for you, you may want to consider attending a support group for porn addiction. These support groups offer meeting and sponsors much like AA groups. You should also consider talking to a medical professional about your addiction. Pornographic and sexual addictions can have severe adverse effect on your mental and spiritual health.

Another addiction that many people deal with is drug abuse. A drug problem can affect more than just the person who abuses drugs. Family, friends, and children especially are negatively affected when someone has a drug problem. If family members think that a loved one might be involved in drugs they can get drug tests from their health care provider or sometimes over the counter. For those drug abusers that have decided to make a change in their lives, a drug detox center is the best place to go in order to get their lives back on track.

There are a lot of issues that go along with choosing the right drug rehab center for those who need to go and get clean. The drug addict themselves with often not be able to choose the correct drug treatment center for them, so it is up to close family and friends to decide what drug treatment center will be right for them. Most drug rehab centers are not for profit organizations, so you will want to check all of their credentials before choosing the right program. Drug addiction affects your physical, mental and often spiritual health.

These are just two of many addictions that individuals can encounter. When dealing with any type of addiction it important first admit that there is an addiction and then seek outside intervention and help.
